Michael & Kim Johnson

Owner / Funeral Director

Michael Johnson is a 2nd generation Funeral Director/Embalmerand co-owner with his parents Gregg and Nancy Johnson. Michael was raised in Amador County and is a graduate of Argonaut High School . He joined Daneri Mortuary in 1990 as an apprentice embalmer and facilities manager. Over the span of 15 years, Michael grew in all the multiple aspects of the mortuary and cemetery business, completing his initial education at Cypress College in Cypress, CA and has completed California’s requirements for proficiency as a Funeral Director, Embalmer, Preneed Insurance Agent, and Cemetery Salesman. Michael married his wife Kimberly in 1989, who grew up in Poway, CA, San Diego County. They have five children and make their home in Jackson. Kim is a homemaker and teaches their children at home. The Johnson's vision for the future of the family business is one of commitment. We continue our long standing effort to provide quality care through our professional staff, up-to-date equipment and facilities, ongoing training and education.

Gregg & Nancy Johnson

Co-Owners

Gregg & Nancy together have many years of experience in the funeral industry. Formerly sole owners of Daneri Mortuary, they now leave the day-to-day operations to their son Michael, while helping when needed. The Senior Johnson’s are both highly qualified professionals. Gregg, a Funeral Director and Embalmer, has 43 years of mortuary service, the last 27 at Daneri’s. Nancy, also a Funeral Director, has been involved with the business since 1980. They we're high school sweethearts and have been married for 42 years. Gregg and Nancy have 3 grown sons, Michael being the youngest. They are proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren.

Linda Hill

Funeral Director

Before joining Daneri Mortuary Linda was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. She then became an insurance agent for auto, home, and life. This path eventually led her to join the Daneri staff. Linda is a Pre-need Insurance Agent as well as a Cemetery Salesperson. Linda married her husband, Larry in 1986. Larry manages cemetery property in Sacramento. They have two children and two grandchildren who live in Los Angeles. Larry and Linda have made their home in Valley Springs, for the past 13 years. When Linda’s not serving families at Daneri Mortuary, she enjoys playing the piano & keyboard at her church, and still enjoys styling hair as a hobby. They have two dogs, two goats and one cat that keep them quite entertained at home. As a funeral director, she enjoys her families very much, and gives as much comfort as possible through a most difficult time.

Regina Schowengerdt

Apprentice Embalmer

Regina has been with Daneri Mortuary since January of 2005. She is an Apprentice Embalmer, Funeral Director and a Cemetery Salesperson. By nature she enjoys serving others and Daneri Mortuary provides the perfect setting for her to serve families at a very difficult time in their lives. Families can be confident their loved ones are receiving the best care possible not only by Regina but the entire Daneri staff. Regina was raised in Calaveras County and has made Amador County her home since 1990. She graduated from Stanislaus State University with her Bachelor’s in Psychology. Regina has been married to her husband Mike since December of 2000. Mike is the California Branch Manager of Quality Controls, an HVAC Company. Regina has a son, Garrett who is in the Nuclear Program for the U.S. Navy, a teenage daughter, Danica and a teenage stepson, Benjamin. Both Danica and Benjamin are avid soccer players and plan to use their skills through college. Regina feels she has been very blessed in life with a wonderful family, career and great friends at work and outside of work.

Pegi Hughes

Bookkeeper

Pegi comes to Daneri with many years of bookkeeping experience in her background, a career that began in her home state of Pennsylvania, which she left for California in 1979. She first landed in Redwood City where she met her husband, Rich. They moved to Sonoma, married in Santa Rosa in 1986, then came to the Jackson area in 1999. Rich is a semi-retired HVAC contractor & Pegi is “keeping the books” at Daneri.
Rich has 2 adult daughters in the Bay area & Pegi has 3 adult daughters, one in the Chicago area and 2 in Pennsylvania, as well as 2 grand-daughters in Pennsylvania.
Pegi loves to bowl, she and Rich belong to the Motherlode Rockcrawlers and they are active members of a local church. They also enjoy being the humans for 3 cats that run their household.
As with any business, it is necessary to know what the financial situation is at any given time. Pegi endeavors to keep this information up to date & relieve the other members of the team of financial concerns, enabling them to concentrate on helping families who are at a difficult time in their lives.
